Simita & Matt – Hunter Valley Gardens Wedding

“But the truth is, also, simply this: love is indomitable.” – Casey McQuiston

Salsa class. That’s where Simita and Matt met.

More specifically, it was a chance encounter, orchestrated by the Groupon gods. Both signed up due to a groupon voucher, and when they got paired to dance together there was an instant connection.

“We both laughed the entire time and got into trouble from the teacher.” – Simita

As they walked to the car after class, Simita declared that she and Matt and should be friends and added Matt on Facebook.

Simita has a knack for meeting people in the most unique ways: Simita and I met on a tour bus in Italy.

I was drawn to Simita on that bus for a few reasons: she had an infectious optimism, worked hard to remember everyone’s names, and was clearly eager to make some epic memories in Europe.

One of my favourite memories with Simita was one night in Berlin we went to a bar near our hotel and ordered curry and cocktails. Over the course of several cocktails, we were joined by a number of other friends we’d made on the trip. To me, this is evidence of how palpable Sim’s joy was, that people came to seek her out to spend more time with her.

I’m grateful that our friendship extended beyond the Europe trip, and that I have shared in some beautiful memories with both Simita and Matt over the last few years.

Here’s to a few more decades of beautiful memories ahead!
