Like most Australians, I turned on the TV at 10 AM on November 15th 2017.
I was sitting alone in my living room, waiting with bated breath. And I heard the words: “61.6%”.
As a Queer person who spent most of my life in the church, people always put me in a box and said “here, this is who you are”. No one took the time to ask me who I wanted to be. I lived in a world full of assumptions.
For the first 5 years of being a wedding photographer, these assumptions infiltrated my work too.
These are the poses that look good.
This is what makes a wedding photo.
This is how romance feels.
As a person who had never been in love, and had never been given permission to love, I only knew what I was told.
When Australia voted in favour of Marriage Equality in 2017, I found my “why...”
Through the medium of photography, I am here to celebrate all humans in love.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve stopped making assumptions. Instead, I've made a living from asking questions.
What makes you smile?
How do you experience the world?
Who have you lost?
Who have you found?
Who do you love?
Why do you love them?
Why have you chosen this person?
Good wedding photography makes assumptions about what looks good

Hank is a fantastic photographer and we are happy to recommend them. We had a very simple wedding at a friend's farm, which they captured perfectly in the photos they produced. They made us feel comfortable and subtly took the lead at different times (much to our relief as we had no idea about what goes into getting the perfect shot!). So many of our friends have commented on how perfectly shot the photos were for the occasion, and that you can feel how happy the day was from the images...some great memories we will cherish forever. Thanks again Hank!

On top of being a genuinely kind and likeable person, Hank is also an amazing wedding photographer. On the day of our wedding, he was friendly, calm, professional and ready to capture all the little moments. Upon seeing our photos people asked if there was a second shooter at our ceremony - nope, Hank just knew where to be and made sure he didn’t miss a shot.
We were worried about looking awkward in our photos but when it came to the portraits Hank set us up in the right light and then stood back to help us create a real moment of intimacy. Our photos are stunning and they give us the best warm-fuzzy memories of our wedding day every time we look at them!
