Howdy,I'm Hank

I'm Hank; acclaimed wedding photographer, board game collector and self-proclaimed “imperfect vegan.” I have a passion for celebrating the joy of marriage through sustainable and ethical practices and have been photographing love stories since 2013.

When I'm not attending weddings (and busting out “The Hank Crank” on the dance floor), you can find me cooking scrambled tofu for friends or waiting in line to see the next Marvel movie.

"How did you get into wedding photography?"

People ask me this all the time. For a while, I would tell them a very bland version of the story. I'd go into detail about how I started working for another photography company ten years ago while I was still in high school. And how I left my hometown straight after I graduated to try and grow my business. Blah blah blah...

But that's not the whole story...

You see, my boss was also my church mentor. So at the same time that he was teaching me about light and composition, he was also showing me how to be a “good Christian business owner” by politely turning away any couples that didn’t adhere to our religious views on marriage. Eeeek!

To cut to the chase, from right at the start of my wedding career, I was taught how to discriminate against the LGBTQ+ community. My community.

It would take years of unlearning to realise how harmful this had been on my own journey to accept my own queerness…. But this introduction to wedding photography proved to be pivotal in shaping me and why I run my business today: to celebrate all humans in love.

When I photograph your wedding, I will work my butt off to make you feel safe and seen, for exactly who you are.

I don't do cookie-cutter.

Because you're not cookie-cutter.

Hank is a fantastic photographer and we are happy to recommend him. We had a very simple wedding at a friends farm, which he captured perfectly in the photos he produced. He made us feel comfortable and subtly took the lead at different times (much to our relief as we had no idea about what goes into getting the perfect shot!). So many of our friends have commented on how perfectly shot the photos were for the occasion, and that you can feel how happy the day was from the images...some great memories we will cherish forever. Thanks again Hank!

On top of being a genuinely kind and likeable guy, Hank is also an amazing wedding photographer. On the day of our wedding, he was friendly, calm, professional and ready to capture all the little moments. Upon seeing our photos people asked if there was a second shooter at our ceremony - nope, Hank just knew where to be and made sure he didn’t miss a shot.

We were worried about looking awkward in our photos but when it came to the portraits Hank set us up in the right light and then stood back to help us create a real moment of intimacy. Our photos are stunning and they give us the best warm-fuzzy memories of our wedding day every time we look at them!

Hank was the most perfect wedding photographer we could ever imagine. From start to finish he was very professional, fun, approachable and always kept in touch with us and answered all our questions. He knows what he's doing and just has this way of bringing out the best in people and you can really see that through his photos.

We would highly recommend him and we feel so lucky to have had him as a part of our day, thanks again Hank!
